About
Arzaan Ul Mairaj
I’m Arzaan Ul Mairaj, a Machine Learning Engineer passionate about building AI systems that make a real-world impact, especially in sustainability, safety, and intelligent decision-making. My experience spans a range of domains, from computer vision for fleet safety to analysing satellite imagery for environmental monitoring.
I’ve developed models that detect unsafe driving behaviour, monitor deforestation using 3D CNNs, and evaluate carbon offset projects with hybrid learning approaches. I particularly enjoy designing AI solutions that are both technically robust and socially meaningful.
Currently, I’m pursuing an MSc in Artificial Intelligence at Aston University, with a dissertation focused on species distribution modelling using sparse absence data, combining my interests in AI and biodiversity conservation for the environment. I hold a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from NUCES-FAST.
Outside of work, I like exploring creative AI applications for climate and conservation, playing video games, and keeping up with the latest developments in machine learning research.
